Local Area Information

Hawstead is a small village but there is easy access by road to Bury and the popular wedding venue The Suffolk Barn. The nearest pub is The White Horse at Whepstead, a friendly place serving decent pub food. Bury St Edmunds has a fine cathedral and markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays, plus a farmers' market on the second Sunday of the month. There are shops and a Michelin-starred restaurant, along with many independent and chain eateries.

The Red Shed was built in the late 1940s and used as an artist studio. We converted and renovated it to live in whilst we modernised our existing home next door.
Maglia Rosso in the village, is a cycling cafe and coffee shop selling all types of bicycles and necessary kit., also hosting many cycle groups and rides, along with bike hire.
